Royal watchers clocked it instantly: Princess Charlotte was name-dropped by both Kate and William during their Scotland visit — and the touching reason behind it reveals a sweet family detail

NEED TO KNOW

  • Both Kate Middleton and Prince William separately mentioned their daughter, Princess Charlotte, during their recent day of outings in Scotland
  • The Prince of Wales lit up when he met a girl who shared a name with his daughter
  • Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales was presented with a gift for Charlotte

Kate Middleton and Prince William may have been spending the day in Scotland, but their children weren’t far from their minds.

The Prince and Princess of Wales — who are parents to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — brought up their daughter on multiple occasions as they visited Stirling and Falkirk on Jan. 20.

Prince William, 43, lit up upon meeting a young girl who shared his daughter’s name. As seen in a video shared on social media, he leaned down and said, “You’re Charlotte? I’ve got a Charlotte too. My daughter’s called Charlotte too.”

The royal heir then asked the girl how old she was and if she had been practicing curling, a reference to their visit with the Great Britain Olympic and Paralympic curling teams, before calling her a “future champion.”

Princess Charlotte was also referenced by Princess Kate, 44, during their stop at Radical Weavers, a tartan-weaving studio. According to Hello! magazine, the royal mom was gifted with a crochet bunny from Adele Hodgson, 70, who started the hobby a year ago and sells her creations to raise money for a local hospice.

Thanking Hodgson for the present, Princess Kate said Princess Charlotte would “absolutely love” it, adding that her daughter has “lots of teddies on her bed.”

“Well done, that must have taken a long time,” Kate said about the crochet rabbit. “Thank you so much.”

Princess Charlotte recently joined the royal family for their annual Christmas Day outing to church. Afterward, she confidently greeted well-wishers, shaking hands and even posing for some photos — with her dad checking in on her.

In a moment shared on social media, a group asked Princess Charlotte to take a photo with them. As they handed a camera over to a security officer, Prince William asked, “Charlotte, are you okay?” to which she responded, “Yeah.”

She then smiled for the picture as her dad watched on with a smile.
