Teen’s heartbreaking final selfie before she was killed on her way to sleepover with friends
Two 15-year-old girls were arrested after their friend’s body was found on an industrial estate. The victim’s mother said the trio were fighting over a boy.

A 14-year-old girl took a selfie on her way to what should have been an innocent sleepover.
However, it was the final image of the teen who was allegedly brutally killed by her own friends after they set a chilling trap for her.
Emilia Sjoberg was lured from her home under the guise of a sleepover before she was tied up and found with horrific injuries.
The teenager was found dead in Landskrona, in southern Sweden, in July 2024, according to local media outlet Expressen and Aftonbladet. She was tied up with silver tape and had several cuts and bruises on her body, local media reports.
Two girls, both aged 15, were arrested in connection with Emilia’s kidnapping and murder. Police said they were friends with Emilia and took her to a local train station.
Chief investigator, Kenth Pehrsson, said Emilia’s body showed signs of “severe violence”, but did not reveal her cause of death.
“She was found with such injuries and under such circumstances that we suspect that her life was taken and that she was deprived of her freedom before that,” prosecutor Tomas Olvmyr added.
It is thought the girl was killed between July 21 and July 22, 2024, according to documents from the local court. Emilia was found shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 23.
One girl was arrested before the second 15-year-old was taken into custody a day later. One confessed to the crime with the prosecutor saying “[She] also provided information about the background to why it has turned out the way it has.”
The girl’s solicitor, Maria Stahl Lindgren, told the media that her client spoke to the prosecutor and police adding that both girls had made “certain concessions” to investigators.
The prosecutor added: “It is clear that these three know each other. Both suspects know each other and both know the plaintiff.”
The alleged murder was over a fight – with Emilia’s mother Anna saying it was over a spat about a boy.
One of the suspects told police there were no plans to kill her and the fight got “out of hand.”
However, Expressen reported the girls stole tape and a knife from different shops before meeting Emilia.
The first 15-year-old arrested was staying at a home for young people that Emilia also lived in at one point. She remained in custody while the other girl was taken in by social services.
The girls filmed part of the attack, which saw one girl brutally beating Emilia, according to Expressen.
Two days prior to the police search on the industrial estate a bag containing Emilia’s bank cards and other belongings were found in the water.
The same day, chief investigator Pehrsson said police had found a knife near the crime scene. A second knife was also seized.
Anna, 33, told local media the family is struggling to come to terms with her daughter’s death.
She added: “I cannot accept that she is dead. We are in shock. Every time it rings I double check if it’s her. I am very much in denial. We haven’t accepted it yet, we won’t accept it until we see her.”
Emilia was identified by her family. Anna, who had Emilia when she was 19, said the family was not allowed to see Emilia’s body initially.
She said: “When the police came together with a priest and told me they had bad news, I replied that they can’t tell me because both my father and mother are already dead. I don’t understand why anyone would want to hurt her.
“My daughter was an angel who always stood up for everyone. Maybe this world wasn’t ready for her.”
Anna said her daughter was stressed about the sleepover and had texted her mum on the train saying “Sorry mum for behaving badly because I was stressed. I love you and you are my life.”
The two had just recently started living together again after Emilia was placed in a home aged five.
Anna told TV4: “We were going to start over and planned what our home would look like. I had just finished building a dressing table for her and she had had to choose other furniture. She was so happy.”
Anna said that tragically, Emilia’s furniture was due to arrive. She added: “I will set it up anyway. And close the door to her room. I want it to stay, I don’t want to forget her.”
