Denmark’s former queen Margrethe, 86, has been admitted to hospital due to heart issues, the royal court says.
“Her Majesty is tired, but in good spirits,” the court said in a statement.
The palace said the issue stemmed from a “heart spasm”.

Danish news agency Ritzau reported that Margrethe was suffering from angina pectrois, which usually manifests itself as chest pain, often resulting from obstruction of the arteries that supply the heart muscle.
The royal, who abdicated in 2024 and passed the throne to her firstborn son Frederik, will remain hospitalised over the weekend for observation and further examinations, it added.
Frederik’s ascension to monarch made his wife, Australian-born Mary Donaldson, the Queen of Denmark.
Margrethe will remain in Copenhagen’s Rigshospitalet university hospital over the weekend for observation and to undergo further examinations, according to the statement.
Margrethe celebrated her 86th birthday on April 16.
Queen Mary attended celebrations at Fredensborg Palace to mark the milestone, days after the death of her father John Donaldson, who died in Hobart at the age of 84.
