Former Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton gave an insight into life with her three children, and how they really feel about some of her actions

Helen Skelton has opened up about her relationship with her three children and why a particular moment left her eldest feeling “mortified” recently.
The 41-year-old is mum to; Ernie, nine, Louis, eight, and Elsie, four, whom she co-parents with her former husband Richie Myler.
Opening up about motherhood, the ex Strictly Come Dancing contestant revealed why she continues to embrace challenges, such as running the London Marathon, and how her children react to her actions.
“This is really sad but when you have kids, you just really want them to like you,” she confessed.
“It’s a weird thing, but you’re like, ‘I love you so much, just like me’.
“My kids are at that age where sometimes they look at me and they’re like, you are a d******d.”
Recounting a humorous moment with her eldest recently, she said he was “mortified” by her riding a scooter to his school.

She added on The Runna podcast: “I scoot to school with my kids and, literally, my eldest went to me the other day, ‘I think you need to leave the scooter now mum’.
“I was like, oh God, he’s mortified.”
Moreover, Helen believes that taking part in athletic endeavours is a good example to her children.
She continued: “It’s funny, I don’t do it so that they go, ‘Oh, my mum is a legend’ but in the moments when I’m not listening and they say to their mates, ‘My mum did that’ and Oh, my God I flipping love it.
“I know that’s really sad and needy but, I don’t want my kids to be like, ‘Yeah my mum did this, my mum did that’, but there is definitely that thing of I can’t tell you to stick at this, if I don’t practise what I preach.”
Helen’s comments come after she compared her bustling household to “Piccadilly circus”.
“I always say it’s not a kid that needs a nanny, I need a nanny – to do all the boring stuff,” she confessed to Bang Showbiz.
During the same conversation, the television host acknowledged how lucky she is to balance motherhood with her career.
“I’m very lucky, most of my friends work way more, in offices or schools or hospitals,” she noted.

“They take the mick because I don’t work half as much as they do. TV work is feast or famine, so you have a crazy few weeks, then you have a really quiet month.”
Helen announced she had separated from ex rugby star Richie in April 2022.
The couple, who were married for eight years, parted ways shortly after the arrival of their third child.
At the time, she wrote on Instagram: “Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.”
Myler has since found new love and has expanded his family with two more children.
As for Helen, while she has been rumoured to have re-entered the dating world, she is yet to confirm anything official.
