Stacey Solomon has admitted to feeling ‘sad’ as she gave an emotional update on her beloved dog following an unexpected change earlier this year.

Fans of the Sort Your Life Out host may recall that back in April, she asked for their prayers as she revealed her pooch Teddy’s health had suddenly deteriorated.

At the time, Stacey told how she and her husband Joe Swash were told their family dog ‘might not ever fully recover’, having found out he had a predisposed condition they “had no idea about”.

She went on to explain what happened, with Teddy suddenly losing the use of his back legs before vets later confirmed he’d suffered a burst disc with his spine “really worn” as the result of a predisposed condition.

After revealing he’d undergone an operation, Stacey said: “We are praying and hoping so hard that he pulls through & that we can care for him in the best way we possibly can to give him the best life he can have.

“We are all truly devastated. He is the sweetest, most protective, loving dog. He’s our family. And far too young to be going through this. We love you Ted. So so much. Pickle Cottage is far too quiet without you. I miss my toilet buddy. Peanut is so sad without his best friend…”

In the weeks that followed, with Teddy having survived the operation and immediate recovery period, Stacey revealed she was performing daily physiotherapy with Teddy and how she was having to express his bladder throughout the day, with the pup remaining on medication and crate rest.

It was then towards the end of last month that Stacey told how she was taking Teddy for a check-up, after admitting his future remained “uncertain”, but was yet to update her followers on the results.

On Tuesday (June 3), Stacey offered her update on Teddy to her millions of followers and shared how the news was bittersweet.

Sharing a picture of the adorable dog laying next to her, she explained: “Teddy update, so many of you asking. After his vet appointmetn, it looks likely that Teddy will never get the feeling back in his legs and will need our help with urinating and assisted walks and physio forever.

“But the good news is… the vet was so pleased with how happy Teddy was and how well we are doing his physio and managing his bladder. So me and Joe were really happy with that and felt extremely proud.”

The mum-of-five added: “I feel sad for Teddy but I’m also confident that me and Joe can give him the happiest life and all the love he deserves. So this new journey is forever.

“But we love Teddy so much we will just keep going and do our best to find new ways to keep him healthy and happy for as long as we can [face holding back tears emoji].”

It comes after Stacey and Joe’s family life at their home, Pickle Cottage, was the subject of their own BBC One reality series. Stacey And Joe featured the couple, their children and pets – including their two dogs, Teddy and Peanut, as well as a number of ducks.
