Television favourite Lisa Faulkner has revealed the deeply personal reason behind her recent absence from social media, confirming she has undergone surgery after being diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer.
The actress and presenter reassured fans that the operation was successful and that she is now focusing on recovery as she prepares for the next stage of treatment.

A difficult diagnosis followed by hopeful news
Lisa, 54, shared the update in an emotional video posted to Instagram, explaining that she had deliberately stepped away from social media while dealing with her health.
The John & Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen presenter, who has been married to former MasterChef star John Torode since 2019, revealed she underwent a major operation two weeks earlier after doctors detected breast cancer at a very early stage.
Thankfully, she confirmed the procedure achieved the best possible outcome.
Doctors have now told her that all of the cancer was successfully removed, leaving her with clear results and allowing her to focus on healing before beginning a course of radiotherapy in the coming weeks.

One decision that may have changed everything
While reflecting on her experience, Lisa said one simple appointment ultimately made all the difference.
She urged women not to postpone routine mammograms, explaining that her cancer showed no obvious warning signs and may never have been discovered without the screening.
According to Lisa, the early detection gave doctors the opportunity to treat the disease before it had progressed, something she described as incredibly fortunate.
She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the NHS, praising the availability of breast screening programmes and the chance to receive treatment at such an early stage.
Fans and fellow stars rally behind Lisa
Following her announcement, messages of support quickly poured in from fans, friends and colleagues across the entertainment industry.
EastEnders actress Emma Barton shared a heartfelt message of love, while Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley also sent her support.
Emmerdale actress Angela Lonsdale added her own words of encouragement, joining fellow soap favourite Tamzin Outhwaite, who told Lisa she was confident she would get through the difficult journey ahead.
Television presenter Kate Lawler also praised Lisa for attending her mammogram, saying she was relieved the cancer had been discovered early.
Broadcaster Julia Bradbury echoed those sentiments, wishing Lisa peace, rest and strength as she continues her recovery.
Lisa’s message highlights the importance of early detection
Lisa’s story has once again drawn attention to the importance of recognising breast cancer early.
Health experts say the most common sign is a new lump or an area of thickened tissue in the breast, although many breast lumps turn out not to be cancerous.
Other symptoms that should be checked by a doctor include changes in the size or shape of the breast, discharge from the nipple, swelling under the arm, dimpling or redness of the skin, persistent rashes around the nipple, or a nipple that becomes pulled inward.
Breast pain on its own is not usually considered a typical symptom of breast cancer.
Looking ahead with gratitude
Although Lisa still faces several weeks of radiotherapy, she says the hardest part of the uncertainty is now behind her.
As she continues to recover from surgery, the television star hopes that by sharing her own experience, more women will feel encouraged to attend routine breast screenings—believing that one appointment could make the same life-changing difference it did for her.
