The match was subsequently abandoned after DeMelo was taken away in an ambulance.

The NWSL have since confirmed that their player is stable.

A league statement read, “Savannah is stable and alert and getting the attention she needs.

“Our first priority is her health and safety. We are in close communication with Racing Louisville’s medical team.

“The NWSL remains committed to ensuring that the highest standards of medical care and emergency response are in place at every match.”

Racing Louisville went on to confirm that the remainder of the match, which had been locked at 0-0 when abandoned, would be played at a later date.

Seattle Reign, meanwhile, wrote in a statement, “Sending all our love to Savannah DeMelo and everyone at Racing Lou FC.

“We stand side by side with Louisville during this time and thank our fans for their support.”

DeMelo joined Racing Louisville in 2022 and has earned seven USWNT caps.

The former USC Trojan was taken off during a match against Bay FC in March after feeling chest tightness and dizziness.

DeMelo later revealed that she had been diagnosed with Graves’ disease and hyperthyroidism.

The California-born star told ESPN in May, “Playing a 90-minute game felt unbearable.

“I would get to maybe the 25th minute, and I felt like my heart was just like beating so fast, like out of my chest.

“I felt so out of breath, so out of shape. I didn’t really know what was going on.”
