Married At First Sight star Jules Robinson has opened up about her debilitating monthly health battle that she says once pushed her to ‘very dark places’.
The reality TV veteran, 43, shared a raw and emotional account on social media detailing her long struggle with severe hormone fluctuations around her menstrual cycle.
Jules admitted she previously masked her pain with humour, including a joke made on her wedding day to co–star husband Cam Merchant.
‘Just after we got married, at our reception, I joked to Cam, “You’ll have to put me under the stairs once a month”,’ Jules told fans.
‘Trying to make light of something I didn’t fully have words for yet. I always struggled with my hormones around my period.’
In a lengthy post, the mother-of-two admitted that during certain weeks of her cycle she felt completely disorientated.

‘Some months I feel like myself… and other months it feels heavy, overwhelming and completely destabilising. For so long I didn’t have the words for it, only feelings,’ she wrote.
Jules revealed she first sought medical help when her eldest son Oliver, now five, was just six months old, but was told her symptoms were ‘postpartum’.
She said she knew instinctively that diagnosis didn’t fully explain what she was experiencing.
‘I’d just been through one of the biggest hormonal shifts of my life, and I didn’t understand what was happening,’ she wrote.
‘So I did what so many women do: I joked. I masked it. I powered through… because life doesn’t stop, even when your hormones feel like they’re hijacking your mind and sense of self.’
She admitted the condition was at times so crushing she felt completely isolated, until she heard from other women who reassured her that she was not alone.
‘I’ve hit very dark lows. Moments I didn’t recognise myself. And every time I’ve shared even a tiny part of this journey, the messages that come flooding in remind me how many women are quietly carrying the same weight,’ she wrote.
Jules first publicly shared her diagnosis of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) in 2023 – a severe form of PMS that can cause extreme mood changes, depression and irritability, often disrupting daily life and relationships.

Speaking about the response to her revelation, Jules said she was overwhelmed by messages from women experiencing the same condition.
‘So many of you messaged with your own stories, your own pain, your own “me too”,’ she wrote.
‘I realised I wasn’t alone – and neither were you.’
The star, who shares sons Ollie and Carter, 18 months, with Cam, said she has since found a routine that has helped her regain stability.
‘No, the hormonal challenges haven’t magically disappeared,’ she said.
‘But I no longer feel as destructive, as sad, as low – and for anyone who knows this feeling, that alone is huge.’
Jules met and fell in love with her husband Cam Merchant on the hit show, with the pair now sharing two sons.
They got married in November 2019 after starring on season six of MAFS, which aired in early 2019
