Judith Chalmers dead aged 90: ITVās Wish You Were Hereā¦? star dies after Alzheimerās battle
TV presenter Judith Chalmers sadly died aged 90 last night after a years-long battle with Alzheimerās.
The Wish You Were Here� star died peacefully at home on Thursday.
She became seriously ill over the last few weeks, and passed away surrounded by family.
The travel icon presented theĀ ITVĀ series from 1974 until 2003, and she was given an OBE in 1994.
She hostedĀ ITVās daytime magazine show Good Afternoon, and presentedĀ BBCĀ RadioĀ programmes Family Favourites and Womanās Hour in the 1960s.
Judithās family told ITV: āAfter living an extraordinary life that involved over 60 years in broadcasting and countless adventures all over the globe, Judy sadly passed away last night, surrounded by the family she loved so much after suffering withĀ AlzheimerāsĀ for some years.
āWe will miss her greatly but she leaves behind a giant suitcase of the happiest of memories.ā
She presented ballroom dancing competition programme Come DancingĀ for the BBC from 1961 to 1965, before moving to ITV.
The TV star was born in Cheshire to an architectĀ and medical secretary.
She began working for the BBC aged just 13, after being selected for BBC NorthernĀ Childrenās Hour.
Judith leaves behind her husband former sports commentator Neil Durden-Smith, their two kids and six grandchildren.
In 2022, Heathrow appointed her as theirĀ āChief Smile Officerā.
