‘I’m determined to beat this’, says Beverley Callard as I’m A Celebrity star gives health update amid cancer battle
BEVERLEY Callard has issued a fresh update amid her ongoing breast cancer battle.
The star confessed that she was “determined to beat” the disease in a brand new video despite admitting to having a “yo-yo” day with her feelings.
The actress has been open and honest about her breast cancer journey which has come at a very busy time for the star who appeared in the most recent series of I’m A Celebrity All Stars and landed a new role in Irish soap, Fair City.
But in an emotional new Instagram upload, Bev admitted she had been left feeling down.
Revealing she and husband Jon are continuing to settle into a new property, Beverley opened up on what is next in her breast cancer journey as she told how she was preparing herself to face radiotherapy.
“I’m trying to get ready for radiotherapy but I don’t really know what to expect.
“Everybody tells me something different because everybody’s experience is different.
“We are all unique and I truly don’t know what to expect.
“I am ready for it – I beat cervical cancer when I was 32 and I’m determined to beat this, more often than not.”
Bev then revealed she faced a setback when she was left upset when she caught a glimpse of herself in a mirror she had put in the bathroom.
The actress said: “I never thought I’d look like this,” as she appeared to reference the physical toll having the disease can have on the body.
In order to brighten up her spirits, she soon revealed that her loving husband Jon had done a bedroom transformation for the star for one of the rooms in their plush new home.
Bev could be seen ecstatic as she thanked her supportive partner Jon for his actions and for caring for her amid her battle with the disease.
Former Coronation Street actress Beverley first revealed she was facing the disease in an interview on a top Irish talk show.
Her diagnosis came just months after jetting to South Africa to film I’m A Celebrity and weeks before it aired on ITV.
It also came as she moved over to Ireland after landing a part in Fair City – with her filming schedule having to be altered in order to fit around her cancer treatment.
