Two teenagers have been left fighting for life and eight others have been injured in a horror car crash, allegedly caused by an unlicensed 14-year-old driver.

Two teenagers are fighting for life and eight others — including a toddler — are seriously injured following a horror multi-car crash allegedly caused by a 14-year-old in Queensland.

Queensland Police said an unregistered Mitsubishi Lancer — driven by an unlicensed 14-year-old boy — was travelling north along Maryborough Hervey Bay Rd in Susan River about 6:10pm on Thursday.

It allegedly lost control and veered onto the other side of the road where it side swiped a Suzuki Swift before colliding with an Orange Kona.

A Volkswagen Polo was travelling behind the Kona and became part of the pileup.

A passenger in the Mitsubishi, a 16-year-old girl, suffered serious injuries and was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the Suzuki — an 18-year-old woman — was also flown to hospital in a critical condition.

Police said the other occupants of the Mitsubishi, including the 14-year-old Urangan driver, a 14-year-old Granville boy and a 16-year-old Maryborough girl all sustained various injuries.

They were transported to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.

“It deeply saddens me that I have come to report today of another serious crash in the Wide Bay Burnett involving children without a licence, driving a vehicle without permission, causing serious trauma to a number of families,’’ Inspector Paul Algie from Queensland Police told media on Friday.

“In a tragic set of circumstances this has occurred on the third anniversary of what became known as the triple fatal in Maryborough.

“On that fateful night, a child in a stolen vehicle killed three people on the Hervey Bay to Maryborough Road.

“That sent shockwaves through this community which are still felt to this day.’’

A 58-year-old Wondunna woman, a passenger in the Suzuki, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the Kona, a 40-year-old Eli Waters man, sustained leg injuries and a 2-year-old boy and a 40-year-old Eli Waters woman also in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

They were all transported to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver and sole occupant of the Volkswagen, a 19-year-old Maryborough man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital as a precaution.

Two teenagers have been left fighting for life after a car allegedly driven by a 14-year-old boy caused a shocking crash, leaving eight others injured, in Queensland.

Emergency crews were called to Maryborough Hervey Bay Rd in Susan River after reports of multiple people critically injured, some needing to be cut free from wreckage, after a car travelling on the wrong side of the road caused a four-car pile up about 6.10pm on Thursday.

Queensland Police allege a white Mitsubishi Lancer, driven by an unlicensed 14-year-old boy, was travelling north when it lost control and veered onto the opposite side of the road, swiping a white Suzuki Swift before colliding with an orange Kona.

A red Volkswagen Polo was travelling behind the Kona and also became involved in the crash.

One of the teenage Mitsubishi driver’s passengers, a 16-year-old girl, sustained critical abdominal, pelvic, limb and head injuries was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital before being airlifted by helicopter to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Two other passengers in the Mitsubishi, a 14-year-old Granville boy and a 16-year-old Maryborough girl, along with the young driver, all sustained various injuries and were transported to Hervey Bay Hospital in stable conditions.

The driver of the Suzuki, an 18-year-old Wondunna woman, sustained critical abdominal, pelvic, limb and head injuries was taken in a potentially life-threatening condition to Hervey Bay Hospital.

A 58-year-old Wondunna woman, a passenger in the Suzuki, received chest and abdominal injuries and was transported in a stable condition to Maryborough Hospital.

The driver and passengers of the Kona were all trapped in the car before being freed with the help of the Queensland Fire Department.

The driver, a 40-year-old Eli Waters man, was treated in a potentially life-threatening condition with pelvic and limb injuries and taken to Hervey Bay Hospital.

His passengers, a 40-year-old Eli Waters woman and a two-year-old girl were both taken to Hervey Bay Hospital in potentially life-threatening conditions with multiple injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the Volkswagen, a 19-year-old Maryborough man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Maryborough Hospital as a precaution.

Investigations into the cause of the crash remain ongoing.

Police inspector Paul Algie said Incidents like this send “shockwaves through communities”, with the event occurring on the third anniversary of the shocking triple fatal crash in Maryborough, which happened under similar circumstances.

Michale Chandler, 29, Kelsie Davies, 17, and Sheree Robertson, 52, were killed when they were hit by a stolen car driven by a 13-year-old boy on Saltwater Creek Rd in Maryborough on April 30, 2023.

A fourth girl, Kayla Behrens, 17, survived the crash, but was left with lasting injuries after spending 10 days in an induced coma.

The boy was sentenced to six years in detention.
