Telly presenter and former footballer Alex, 41, has had a successful career on the pitch playing for the likes of Arsenal, Birmingham City and Great Britain and has since become a popular pundit.

When she was revealed as a campmate, a source told The Sun: ‘Alex loves pushing herself out of her comfort zone and where better to do it than the jungle?

‘The public know her as a sportswoman and a serious broadcaster so she thinks she can show people a side to her that they’ve never seen before.

‘Alex is game for anything and is a tough cookie so she’s ready for anything that gets thrown at her — literally.’

Meanwhile, Manchester-based rapper, Aitch and Angry Ginge were seen in Brisbane Airport ahead of this year’s I’m A Celebrity.

Aitch, 25, whose real name is Harrison Armstrong, arrived Down Under wearing a full black and white Adidas tracksuit, insisting that he was in Australia on ‘tour’ as the contestants still cannot confirm they are going into the Jungle.

The Rain rapper told the Daily Mail: ‘I was gonna say that I’ll miss the rain in the UK but it’s raining here so nothing’s changed much.

‘I’ve been to Australia plenty of times, I love it over here. I don’t mind snakes, snake on toast.’

The artist who hails from New Moston in Manchester revealed that he was going to miss his little sister, Gracie, who has Down Syndrome, ‘Even though she’s a little s*** I’m still going to miss her.’

And then in a message to his fans, he said: ‘I want to shout them all out and say that I’ll be back home soon and if I’m not then someone needs to have a word.’

Elsewhere Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, was also seen arriving at Brisbane Airport.

Aitch will join the likes of Kelly Brook, Shona McGarty, Lisa Riley, Angry Ginge and Martin Kemp in the Jungle for the show’s 25th series.

The BRIT Award winner will follow in the footsteps of fellow rapper Tinchie Stryder, who appeared on the show 11 years ago.

Aitch, whose real name is Harrison Armstrong, has had nine top 10 hits and became a viral sensation after he struck up a very close connection with YouTube creator Amelia Dimoldenberg, when the pair met on her Chicken Shop series.

Despite neither of the pair ever confirming the relationship, Amelia did appear in his Baby video, appearing as his date, which sent fans into a frenzy.

Aitch who is from Manchester, won the British Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act at The Brits in 2023 and has over six million followers across all his social platforms and YouTube.

It’s this broad following and the fact he is younger which is thought to have had an appeal on ITV bosses.

It comes after Ant and Dec kicked back in a pair of jungle-themed pyjamas as the I’m A Celebrity contestants started to arrive in Australia ahead of the new series.

The ITV show returns on Sunday with a host of new celebrities braving the creepy crawlies in the jungle.

And the hosting duo are taking it easy before the series kicks off, with the pair seen sporting jungle-themed pyjamas.

In a snap shared on Instagram on Sunday, Ant was seen wearing crocodile slippers while Dec opted for dark green Crocs covered in insects.

‘If anybody needs us, we’ll just be waiting here until 16th November… #ImACeleb,’ they captioned the snap.

Kelly was the first star to touch down in Australia on Sunday ahead of the series, soon followed by Lisa Riley. EastEnders‘ star Shona McGarty arrived later that night.

Model and actress Kelly, 45, was the first to arrive as she looked very glamorous in a £250 yellow and orange dress from Louisa Ballou – which she proudly said was like ‘the Australian sunset’.

She told the Daily Mail: ‘I’m just here to visit my Auntie Sheila’ as celebrities are not allowed to confirm whether they are appearing on the ITV show yet.

When asked what she would miss most about the UK, she said: ‘My dog Teddy and my husband Jeremy.

‘But I’m looking forward to surfing and seeing my distant cousin I’ve not seen for a long time and the Koalas and Kangaroos of course. I’m not sure about sleeping under the stars, I’m hoping she has a spare room.’

Meanwhile Emmerdale star Lisa, who has played Mandy Dingle on the ITV soap for 11 years, was the second contestant to arrive in Australia as she declared: ‘We did “Dingle Down Under” many years ago, so it’s only fair that we do it again.’

The comment was in reference to the Emmerdale film, The Dingles Down Under, which came out in 1997.

Wearing a nude plunging top, black jumper draped over her shoulders and leggings, the actress, 49, did not pack light as she told the Daily Mail she had ‘lots of bling’ in her four suitcases.

Lisa said: ‘My family are really rooting for me, they’re really happy that I’m here. I’m fine with creepy crawlings, I’ve worked on a farm for many years so it’s part of the job being Mandy Dingle.

‘I’m looking forward to the lovely people, I’m a people person, and somebody who likes to chatter. I’ve got lots of stuff because I’m such a girlie girl.’

Back in 2018, Kelly said there would be ‘a million’ other things she would rather do like working in her local pub, than appear in the jungle.

‘I don’t want to eat eyeballs or sheep testicles and all the things they have to eat on there,’ she said on her Heart radio show. Even if I had a huge tax bill and I had to pay it really urgently, I still wouldn’t do it.’

But it was thought she was finally persuaded by a big money deal as she joins soap, music and comedy legends in the line-up ahead of the show’s return later this month.

A source told The Sun of Kelly’s appearance: ‘Show bosses have been after Kelly as a campmate for years and think she could possibly be their sexiest contestant ever.

‘She’s glamorous, witty and a familiar face to ITV audiences, having appeared as a panellist for Loose Women and other shows. She’s guaranteed to make perfect TV viewing.’

She will join Ruby Wax, 72, whose best known work includes TV show Girls On Top and film Shock, and she has also written for BBC programme Absolutely Fabulous.

Nowadays she’s known as a mental health expert.

A source told The Sun: ‘Ruby’s a proper TV legend and adds real gravitas to this year’s line-up. She’s interviewed some of the biggest stars in the world so will have no problem getting to know her fellow campmates. It will make great TV for viewers.’

The show has also signed soap icons Shona McGarty, who played Whitney Dean on EastEnders between 2008 to 2024, and Emmerdale’s Lisa, known for her role as Mandy Dingle.

They will join actor and Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp, 64, as well as broadcasters Alex Scott, 41, and Vogue Williams, 40.

Jack Osbourne, 39, is also set to enter camp just four months after his rocker father Ozzy’s tragic death.

A source told The Sun: ‘Jack is very likely to discuss Ozzy, which will be an incredibly moving moment for the campmates and for viewers and fans of the adored rocker.’

The Black Sabbath legend died of heart failure aged 76 at his Buckinghamshire home on July 22, just two weeks after performing a farewell concert with his bandmates at Birmingham’s Villa Park.
