Amanda Keller Shares Emotional Tribute to Harley Oliver After 36 Years of Marriage

Amanda Keller’s Moving Anniversary Message to Husband Harley: ‘I’d Choose Us Every Day’

Australian radio and television personality Amanda Keller has shared an emotional message to her husband, Harley Oliver, as the couple celebrated 36 years of marriage.

Reflecting on more than three decades together, Amanda acknowledged that their journey had included both treasured memories and deeply challenging moments. Yet through everything, her commitment to the life they built together has remained unchanged.

A Card That Imagined Their Future

To mark their anniversary, Amanda shared a card she sent to Harley shortly before their wedding in 1990, when she was away filming Beyond 2000.

The card showed an elderly couple sitting peacefully beside each other — a playful glimpse of how Amanda imagined the pair might look decades into the future.

“I sent this card to Harley just before we married,” she explained.

Amanda joked at the time that they would still be sitting side by side in their later years. Although the thought of spending four decades together seemed almost impossible to comprehend as a young bride, she said she was ready to embrace the journey.

“I was keen for it all and I believed in us,” she wrote.

‘Not Everything Has Been Smooth Sailing’

Amanda’s anniversary message also offered an honest reflection on the more difficult chapters of their marriage.

“Today is our 36th wedding anniversary,” she wrote.

“Not everything has been smooth sailing. Harley’s health means some days are scary, sad and confronting.”

Despite those challenges, Amanda said she would continue choosing their relationship every day.

“Still on the ride. Still leaping and believing.”

Her deeply personal words prompted an outpouring of support from fans, many of whom praised the couple’s resilience and enduring devotion.

Harley’s Parkinson’s Diagnosis

Harley was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2017. The family initially kept the diagnosis private before Amanda publicly revealed it in 2023.

Since then, she has spoken candidly about the emotional reality of watching someone she loves live with a progressive condition.

Amanda previously explained that occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and Valentine’s Day no longer feel as effortless as they once did.

The couple’s easy conversations and familiar banter have also changed, making the moments of connection they continue to share even more meaningful.

A Valentine’s Day Message She Will Never Forget

Earlier this year, Amanda recalled a touching gesture from Harley that brought her to tears.

After returning home from walking the family dog, she discovered a bouquet of flowers waiting on the kitchen bench.

Because Parkinson’s has affected Harley’s handwriting and movement, Amanda believed someone had helped him arrange the surprise.

Attached to the flowers was a handwritten message asking her to be his Valentine forever.

Amanda said the effort behind the gesture made it incredibly precious.

“Any effort from him like that just means so much to me,” she said. “It’s a big deal.”

Friends Share Their Support

Amanda’s anniversary tribute attracted warm messages from several well-known figures in Australian entertainment.

Miguel Maestre, Rebecca Gibney, Lisa Wilkinson, Leigh Sales and Deborah Hutton were among those who celebrated the couple’s milestone and sent messages of love and support.

For many followers, Amanda and Harley’s story represented not a perfect marriage, but one strengthened by loyalty, honesty and the decision to continue facing life together.

‘We Still Have Each Other’

The milestone carried particular significance after Harley was not well enough for the couple to celebrate their 35th anniversary in the way they once might have.

Amanda previously admitted that their special occasions had changed significantly.

Instead of going out for a romantic dinner, she found herself focusing on gratitude for the simple fact that they were still together.

“I’m grateful today that here we are, 35 years and we’re still in it together,” she said at the time.

“It’s not the same as the old days where we’d be going out to dinner tonight. But I’m grateful that we still have each other.”

Amanda also shared Harley’s philosophical view of life’s uncertainty, explaining that he often says everyone has an “asteroid” coming towards them — even though no one knows when or what it will be.

Another Emotional Family Milestone

Amanda and Harley’s anniversary came just days after their eldest son, Liam, celebrated his 25th birthday.

Sharing photographs from different stages of his life, Amanda reflected on the long and difficult IVF journey she and Harley experienced before becoming parents.

“After years of IVF, it was a miracle to hold you in my arms,” she wrote.

She added that she and Harley had treasured every moment of raising their son and remained enormously proud of the person he had become.

Amanda has previously documented her fertility struggles in her memoir, Natural Born Keller. After years of uncertainty and disappointment, hearing their baby’s heartbeat became a life-changing moment for the couple.

Thirty-six years after promising to face the future together, Amanda’s anniversary tribute showed that their relationship is still defined by the same hope she carried before their wedding — the belief that, even when life becomes frightening or uncertain, they will continue choosing each other.
