Police have provided a sad update on the search for a 12-year-old boy who went missing in the surf.
Police believe a 12-year-old boy who went missing in the surf on Sunday morning has died, with search efforts now turning to recovering his body.
Danny from Taylors Hill in Victoria was last seen while swimming at No. 4 Beach at Venus Bay about 11.30am on Sunday.
It is understood his family lost sight of him on the popular surf beach.
“Due to the length of time Danny has been missing, police are now working to recover his body,” Victoria Police said in a statement on Tuesday.

Members of the public had joined the boy’s family to search for him before the alarm was raised with emergency services just after 1pm on Sunday.
However, search efforts have now stopped, with police working to recover his body.
“Danny is described as being about 170cm tall with a thin build, dark short hair and dark eyes,” police said in a statement on Monday.
“He was last seen wearing a navy blue rash vest and navy blue boardshorts with a white stripe.”

No. 4 Beach at Venus Bay is a popular spot for surfing, fishing, birdwatching and beach combing, according to Parks Victoria.
“Beach conditions include rough surf and strong currents,” the website warns.
“This beach is not patrolled by life savers and swimming is not advised.”
