A man who heroically tackled and disarmed one of the Bondi Beach gunmen has been named.

News.com.au can confirm the hero has been named as 43-year-old Ahmed al Ahmed, a Sydney local who owns a fruit shop in Sutherland.

The father-of-two was shot twice during the unbelievable act, according to his cousin who spoke to 7News.

“He’s in hospital and we don’t know exactly what’s going on inside,” the man named Mustafa told the outlet.

“We do hope he will be fine. He’s a hero 100 per cent.”

Ahmed was due to undergo surgery tonight. He reportedly did not have any experience with guns but was simply walking past and decided to step in.

Footage showed the Ahmed, wearing a white shirt, crouching behind a car in the carpark metres away from one of the shooters.

In between shots, the hero bystander rushed through cars and grabbed the gunman in a headlock from behind.

After a wild struggle lasting about five seconds, Ahmed was able to seize the shotgun and the shooter falls backwards.

The man pointed the gun at the shooter, who walked back towards the bridge while looking over his shoulder.

He can be seen in new footage sitting on the ground while bystanders tend to what appears to be an injury on his leg.

In the clip, posted to Instagram, @crazynewsinsydney said that “man was injured but his courage gave others time to escape.”

Ahmed appears to be coherent in the video, speaking to responders as they hold him from behind.

Incredibly, Ahmed then places the shotgun against a tree.

The second shooter is seen in the same video on the raised bridge nearby, ducking up and down as he exchanges fire with police who are seen sheltering behind cars.

He frantically gestures for his disarmed companion to join him back on the bridge.

Ahmed and another man are seen still crouched by the tree by the shotgun. His companion appears to then be shot.

Moments later, an officer approaches from the direction behind the bridge shoots the gunman dead.

The second man was taken into custody suffering injuries.

Separate footage showed NSW Police giving CPR to the gunman who was shot, while the second man received medical attention.

In another video, police can be seen tending to two men on the ground, with a shotgun underneath one of the men and multiple spent shotgun shells on the ground.

A bystander can be heard “f*****g bash him” before a shirtless man approaches and kicks the man on the ground, before police move him away.
