Princess Anne Repeats Her Go-To Aquamarine Pineflower Tiara for the German State Banquet
Princess Anne is nothing if not consistent. For the third state banquet of the year, she chose her go-to Aquamarine Pineflower Tiara. The tiara, made by Cartier, features emerald-cut aquamarines and diamonds. Thee Princess Royal accessorized what appears to be coordinating diamond and aquamarine earrings. She also wore a sash that had King Charles’s royal order pinned to it.

Princess Anne is known to favor repeating her outfits, and her sartorial mindset is no different when it comes to her tiaras. She often rotates between just four toppers, including the Festoon Tiara; the Halo Scroll Tiara (which Kate Middleton famously wore on her wedding day); the Meander Tiara, made for Prince Philip’s mother; and the aforementioned Aquamarine Pineflower Tiara, commissioned by King George VI for his wife, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. In September, for the U.S. state banquet, she also wore the Pineflower Tiara, and in July, for the French state banquet, she chose the Festoon Tiara.
According to the Court Jeweller, Anne, who received the Pineflower Tiara from her grandmother Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother as a wedding gift, had the sides of the tiara shortened sometimes in the 90s. Writer Lauren Keihna notes, “The central aquamarine and diamond element was removed, and one of the rectangular aquamarines now sits in the center of the piece.” Tonight, the Princess wore a pearl necklace that features aquamarines from the tiara.
The Queen Mother’s jewelry influence was clear tonight: the Princess of Wales wore Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet Tiara, which was a favorite of the Queen Mother.
