After months of speculation surrounding one of Australian radio’s most famous partnerships, Kyle Sandilands has shared his clearest indication yet that his relationship with longtime co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson may never return to what it once was.
The radio veteran has opened up in the first trailer for his upcoming documentary, reflecting on the dramatic collapse of The Kyle & Jackie O Show, his departure from ARN and the deeply personal toll the past few months have taken.
“I’ve had to close that chapter”
Speaking in the teaser for his six-part documentary At Home With Kyle, Sandilands revealed he has emotionally begun moving on from the partnership that defined much of his career.
“I’ve sort of had to mostly, in my mind, close that chapter.”
Despite the apparent distance between them, Kyle made it clear there is no bitterness toward Jackie.
“This isn’t a taking sides thing. I’ll always love her. She’s like a sister to me. I wish her the best.”
However, he also hinted there is far more to the story than the public has heard.
“The last three months, there is quite a lot to say.”
Documentary promises the story behind the fallout
The trailer combines headlines from the pair’s public fallout with behind-the-scenes footage following the cancellation of The Kyle & Jackie O Show.
Kyle suggests the situation escalated well beyond a professional disagreement.
“It didn’t just get intense. It got to the stage where it was dangerous. I think it’s time to let everyone know what actually, really happened.”
The preview also features emotional moments, including footage of Kyle leaving a room in frustration, emergency vehicles, and a quiet reflection on the end of the show.
“It’s not the end of the world. It’s just the end of that show.”
The documentary is expected to offer viewers an unprecedented look at the events surrounding the breakdown of the show’s final months.
From being untouchable to being fired
In another candid moment, podcaster Josh Fox reminds Kyle of a joke he often made during his years at the top of Australian radio.
“You used to joke that they could never fire you.”
Kyle laughs before acknowledging how dramatically circumstances changed.
“Yeah, I did. And now the joke is on me. Here I am. F***ing fired.”
His departure from ARN followed the cancellation of The Kyle & Jackie O Show after an on-air clash with Jackie in February. The fallout led to legal action between both hosts and the broadcaster, with Kyle later reaching a settlement reportedly worth $12.09 million, significantly less than the $85 million he had originally sought.
A new media venture begins to take shape
While looking back on one chapter, Kyle is already focused on building another.
His new subscription platform, Kyle Sandilands Live, is scheduled to launch on August 10 without advertising or broadcast censorship.
The project has already reunited him with several trusted colleagues from his former radio team.
Most notably, longtime producer Jaimee “Mayo” Blazquez, who worked alongside Kyle for nine years, has been appointed executive producer.
Announcing the move, Mayo said she was excited to continue working with Kyle as they begin a fresh chapter together.
Kyle has also admitted he has rehired several former staff members whose jobs disappeared after the show’s cancellation.
“I probably did out of guilt but also because I like my crew and I want to make sure they’re okay.”
A different side of Kyle
Produced by Kyle’s own company, At Home With Kyle will span six episodes exploring both his professional collapse and his efforts to rebuild.
Longtime manager Bruno Bouchet believes audiences will see a version of Kyle rarely shown publicly.
“It is a very different side to Kyle that you are going to see — quite a humble Kyle.”
