MIDAS TOUCH

Molly Mae’s baby name leaked a WEEK before boxing announcement after Tommy Fury’s ‘relative’ told strangers in Ibiza

MOLLY-Mae Hague’s baby son’s name was ‘leaked’ a WEEK ago by Tommy Fury’s relative at an Ibiza party.

Two girls, who were in attendance of the bash in Spain, took to TikTok after they spoke to a girl who claimed to be related to Tommy’s dad John Fury.

In the video, which was shared on June 5, the girls revealed that Molly and Tommy’s newborn son was called Midas.

They explained how the girl related to John said: “The baby’s name is Midas.”

The TikToker explained that they met the relative on a night out as they queued for Ushuaïa in Ibiza.

The content creator said: “These girls started giggling in front of me and I was like ‘you’re on the same wavelength as me, do you know what Molly-Mae has called her baby?’

“All of her friends started laughing and said ‘I’m related’.

“She’s related to John Fury and I was like ‘what’s the baby’s name’.

“She was like the baby’s name is Midas.

“Which makes sense because no one in the family can pronounce the name, so it’s definitely Midas.”

The relative told the TikToker that Molly and Tommy were set to reveal the name in a few days anyway, so it wasn’t necessarily a secret.

There was much speculation over what the couple would name their second child after they revealed they had welcomed on June 3, but despite this video gaining traction, fans were not convinced until Tommy revealed their newborn son’s name as Midas.

He revealed the tot’s name when he took on British retired strongman competitor Eddie Hall, and wore garments of clothing emblazoned with Midas’ name.

Reacting to the girls’ TikTok video after it resurfaced following the announcement of Midas’ name, one person penned: “I CANNOT believe this was right”

“Girlie pops you are absolutely correct, it is infact Midas! We thank you for your service,” said another.

“Omggg you’re right!!! Legit Midas just seen,” added a third.

And a fourth said: “You were soooo right!!!”

Fans had been pleading with Molly to reveal the tot’s name before he was born and in the days after they revealed his birth.

Influencer Molly had previously hinted that fans would “hate” the baby’s name.

The choice follows the naming of their daughter Bambi, which sparked criticism online due to its unconventional nature.

Newborn baby boy Midas’ name is an Ancient Greek name, according to Ancestry.

Symbolising wealth and opulence, the term is often associated with the legendary figure King Midas, who possessed the mythical ability to turn everything he touched into gold.

Midas is a prominent character in Greek mythology, and according to legend, “King Midas ruled Phrygia in Anatolia and was granted the power to turn objects into gold by the god Dionysus”.

In more modern discussions, Midas is often used to describe individuals or entities that possess a special knack for generating wealth.

Midas and the phrase “the Midas touch” has been used in popular culture, such as songs by Midnight Star and Taylor Swift.

In April, Molly revealed the shortlisted baby names she’d ruled out and said their newborn was going to have a distinctive moniker.

She said in a vlog: “In my opinion, you get one opportunity to name your child something that is going to make them be remembered by,” she said.

“There was so much controversy around Bambi’s name but, thank God, because I wanted to give Bambi a name people are going to remember and that no one else in her classroom was going to have.

“What I’m so triggered by, in my class, there were three Mollys and we were all best friends…

“I really think it’s an opportunity for you to set your kid apart. I think there’ll appreciate it, it’s a conversation starter.”

Giving an indication of the sorts of names she’d been considering, Molly said: “I have loads of girls names I love. I think boys names are a lot harder. I really really love, we won’t be using this, but I do love the name Bunny.

“I actually loved the girl name Goldie, but I feel Goldie now is too used. Goldie was always a top contender for me, even with Bambi.”

Continuing the metallic theme, Silver and Sylvie also made the list.

She continued: “I also love the name Junie for a boy. Junior, TJ — Tommy Junior. It’s not gonna be a Tommy Junior.”

What does Molly-Mae and Tommy’s son’s name mean?

THE couple revealed they had welcomed their son last week, with Tommy then revealing his name 10 days later at his fight against Eddie Hall.

Tommy wore garments of clothing in the boxing ring that were emblazoned with the tot’s unique name as he revealed it to the world.

The word Midas was written on a top he wore, then on his shorts, and then on a T-shirt he later sported.

The name Midas is deeply rooted in meaning.
