✨ “Everyone was looking at the bride — until Catherine, Anne and Sophie appeared and created the wedding’s most talked-about moment.” THREE POWERFUL ROYAL WOMEN were there to welcome Harriet Sperling into royal life, creating one of the most heartwarming moments of the day.

Harriet Sperling looked absolutely stunning at her wedding to Peter Phillips today.

Peter is Queen Elizabeth II’s grandson and King Charles III, so the royal family were out in force for the big day.

The bride wore a high-necked lace gown by Emilia Wickstead and an etheral wedding veil, which she accessorized with a sparkling diamond and pearl tiara.

We were wondering whether she would be loaned a tiara from the royal vault (currently overseen by Queen Camilla) or whether the groom’s mother Princess Anne would loan her one from her personal collection.

In the end, Harriet’s tiara was crafted by Pragnell, the London jeweler that designed her engagement ring.

Pragnell designed Queen Elizabeth’s engagement ring back in 1946, with Prince Philip requesting they incorporate diamonds from a tiara that had belonged to his mother, Princess Alice of Battenburg.

Harriet’s matching diamond and pearl earrings were also by Pragnell.

Sweetly, the bride’s veil was carried by her 13-year-old daughter Georgina from a previous marriage and Peter’s daughters from his marriage to Autumn Kelly, Savannah (15) and Isla (14.)

All three bridesmaids wore simple white dresses and flower crowns.

The couple were married at an intimate ceremony at All Saints Church in the village of Kemble. Princess Anne is set to host the wedding reception at her nearby Gatcombe estate later today.

Previously it had been speculated that Harriet would wear Princess Anne’s Festoon Diamond Tiara, which Anne wore for her engagement photoshoot with Mark Phillips in 1973. But perhaps this was always unlikely as it was worn by Peter’s first wife Autumn on their wedding day in 2008.

Another option for Harriet would have been Anne’s rarely seen Meander Tiara, featuring diamonds in a Greek key style that reflects Anne’s Greek royal heritage. It belonged to Prince Philip’s mother Princess Alice, and was a wedding present from Alice to her new daughter-in-law Princess Elizabeth when she married Philip in 1947.

It was always possible that Harriet wouldn’t wear a tiara at all. Neither Princess Anne or Queen Camilla opted for tiaras at their second weddings. However Meghan Markle wore the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau Tiara at her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, even though she had been previously married.

In the event we’re very glad that Harriet chose to step out in the stunning but understated headpiece!

Kate Middleton and Prince William were among the royals guests at Peter and Harriet’s wedding today, with the Princess of Wales wearing a blush tweed dress by Roland Mouret and a boater hat.

King Charles and Queen Camilla were also there, as were Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice and their husbands.

Ever thrifty Princess Anne rewore the yellow hat that she wore to her daughter Zara’s christening in 1981.

She also wore a yellow coat with a cream shawl.

Notable by their exclusion from the guest list were Prince Harry, whose tensions with the royal family continue, and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was stripped of his titles last year and is being investigated for misconduct in public office.

The Gist

  • Kate Middleton, along with her husband, Prince William, was present at the summer’s royal wedding.

  • Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, married Harriet Sperling on June 6 at a private ceremony at All Saints’ Church in Kemble.

  • The Princess of Wales and Sperling are both considered to be fashion icons of the royal family.

Kate Middleton had a challenge on her hands when picking out her wardrobe for the royal wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling this weekend—how do you not upstage the bride when you’re one of the most stunning women in the world?

The Princess of Wales was up for the challenge. As she always does, the future queen dazzled, but there is room for more than one beautiful woman in the royal family. As Princess Anne’s son, Phillips, married Sperling on June 6 in a private ceremony, Kate wore a delicate blush tweed Roland Mouret dress that screamed quiet luxury. Her short-sleeved number was belted at the waist before fanning out into an ankle-length A-line skirt. Kate’s fitted bodice featured a wide collar and a row of tweed-covered buttons running down the front, giving the nearly cream number a subtle retro aesthetic.

The royal finished off her look with a wide-brimmed matching hat trimmed with a caramel velvet ribbon and a matching cream clutch. Kate also added some sparkle with amber drop earrings and a diamond pendant necklace.

Phillips and Sperling’s wedding on Saturday no doubt evokes memories of her own, when she married Prince William over 15 years ago on April 29, 2011. Since then—and even before that day—Kate has cemented herself as a style icon, and her fashion has served as a “very intentional” signal that the monarchy is steady, even if events like the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor threaten to push the institution into turmoil.

Kate mostly does this by rewearing pieces, stylist Lisa Talbot told The Daily Mail earlier this year. “Rewearing subtly communicates steadiness and humility,” she said. “It signals continuity, responsibility, and respect for the moment. In situations where public sensitivity is heightened, the most powerful style statement can often be restraint.”

“At times when the wider royal family is under scrutiny, clothing becomes less about fashion and more about message,” Talbot added. “By choosing familiar pieces from her existing wardrobe, she removes any distraction and keeps the focus on her role and her work rather than what she’s wearing.”

After the princess’s longtime stylist, Natasha Archer, departed Kate’s employ last summer, Kate hasn’t hired a stylist to replace her. “Kate has always been very involved in choosing her outfits for royal engagements, but now she is so confident, she knows exactly what suits her and what doesn’t,” a source told People.

“Kate has always loved shopping online and spends a lot of time researching brands that are meaningful,” the insider continued. “She chooses looks and often keeps them until just the right moment before she wears them. She’s not interested in trends—it’s about what she feels comfortable in and the messaging.”

Bethan Holt, fashion director at The Telegraph, told the outlet, “I’m sure that she consults people in her friendship circle, people who are very fashion literate or in the fashion industry, because she knows she needs to look relevant and she also wants to keep delivering surprises, but she knows what works for her, too. It’s a fine balance.”

Sperling, the lovely bride, has been described by Vanity Fair as “a rising fashion icon” and the “new royal style icon” (not that it’s a competition). The publication added that Sperling, who is from the British upper middle class, “will not have to learn the rules of the fashion game. Every outfit is impeccable and always appropriate. She’s nonchalant and never sacrifices her personality.”

“Her looks exude effortless Britishness,” the outlet continued. “Most of the brands she selects are headquartered in London. They are high-end labels founded by women who design clothes for real women, bet on ethical and environmental sustainability, and engage in responsible production”—not unlike the Princess of Wales.

Sperling “is a wonderful ambassador for British brands and always looks effortlessly chic in our pieces,” Natasha Finch, co-founder of Beulah (a brand Sperling wears frequently and Kate has worn, as well), told The Telegraph.

We Asked 3 Chefs the Grocery Chain with the Best Meat Department—They All Picked the Same One

Key Points

  • Chefs praise Costco’s meat department for quality, value and variety.

  • Costco butchers may help with custom cuts and special requests.

  • Shoppers should check freshness and avoid buying more than they can use.

Whether you’re searching for the best deals on ground beef or hard-to-find cuts, a ranch-to-door service or your local independent butcher may be the best option. However, it’s still possible to find what you’re looking for at larger grocery chains, and knowing where the pros shop can be a real game changer. While upscale grocery stores often steal the spotlight, we spoke with three chefs who believe that Costco’s meat department stands out for its combination of quality, value, variety and service.

Why Chefs Choose Costco

While chefs often work directly with specialty purveyors and restaurant distributors, all three chefs say Costco remains one of their favorite places to shop for meat and seafood. “I like Costco’s meat department because the quality is consistently solid for the price, and you can find cuts that are honestly hard to beat value-wise,” says Shota Nakajima, a Japanese American chef who competed on season 18 of Top Chef and demonstrated his skills with dishes such as seared and braised short ribs on Tournament of Champions.

Brother Luck, an award-winning Colorado-based chef who secured a win on Beat Bobby Flay, impressing the judges with a pulled pork slider, agrees that Costco excels at balancing quality and affordability and says the warehouse also fills an important gap for home cooks who don’t otherwise have access to bulk suppliers. “Because Costco purchases at such a high volume, they’re able to extend strong value and pricing to customers without sacrificing quality,” he explains.

And when it comes to service, Britt Rescigno, a chef and television personality who has successfully competed on shows including Tournament of ChampionsGuy’s Grocery Games and Chopped, says Costco’s meat department staff are always happy to help. “I have bought everything from custom-cut steaks to whole pieces of meat that they didn’t have stocked,” she notes. To take advantage of this lesser-known perk, Rescigno says to look for the employees in the white coats and “ask them if they have anything cool in the back that they’re excited about.” In fact, that’s exactly how she sourced a zabuton steak (also known as a Denver steak), which she calls a “rare, chef-y cut of meat that a lot of people don’t know about.”

And Rescigno isn’t the only chef who has taken advantage of Costco’s excellent service or scored a good cut. “Depending on the location, the meat department can sometimes help with larger cuts or special requests,” says Nakajima. “One of my favorite finds there has been A5 Wagyu at a price that’s way more approachable than most places.”

Like Nakajima, one of Luck’s best Costco meat department finds to date was a set of Wagyu steaks. “[They had] beautiful marbling and completely caught me off guard; they were too good to pass up,” he says.
