It has been an emotional few weeks for the Crows captain, who was in tears as the Adelaide crowd paid tribute to Jaryd shortly after his death in April.

Dawson penned a heartbreaking tribute to his brother shorlty after that game.

“My brother. My idol. The hole in my heart hurts so bad pal but I know you’re at peace,” Dawson wrote.

“You made me who I am today and I’m going to pass every bit of that competitive, stubborn, caring and passionate nature onto your beautiful boy.

“Huddy and Jess have an army behind them. I’ll miss you and love you forever Rod.”

Dawson won plenty of accolades for his performance against Geelong, including from Kane Cornes.

“Footy’s amazing, isn’t it? Our thoughts to Jordan Dawson,” he said.

“Courageously out there leading this group like he did tonight under adversity,” Cornes said.

While head coach Matthew Nicks said: “He’s a warrior, he’s not the only one, but incredibly he just kept going.”

“We had a brief chat, it might have been three quarter time, about how he might be best forward, and he said, ‘Give me five minutes (on the ball)’ and he did an unbelievable job.

“It was quite a collision, but probably one that doesn’t surprise me, it doesn’t surprise us, that’s why he’s our captain.

“Our group has worked on that scenario so often that they were just so well drilled at the end, and that’s the pride piece that comes in because you watch them get it done.

“I think we’ll take a hell of a lot of belief from from this because of the way we went about it.”
