Princess Charlotte’s favourite football team revealed by William – and it’s not Aston Villa
Prince William, who is an ardent Aston Villa fan, let slip the team that his 11-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte supports – and it is not the same as her dad
Prince William has let slip his daughter Princess Charlotte’s favourite football team – and she is not following in the footsteps of her dad.
The Prince of Wales is known to be a diehard Aston Villa fan – and witnessed the team make history last week when they lifted the Europa League trophy for the first time in over 40 yearrs following a 3-0 win against Freiburg in Istanbul.
When it comes to his children Prince George, Charlotte and Prince Louis, William has always maintained that he would not force them to support Villa and they would be free to choose their own teams. And while out in Cornwall last week, it seems he confirmed 11-year-old Charlotte’s favourite club – Chelsea.
It came as William visited Nansledan, where he was visiting a housing project being supported by his Duchy of Cornwall estate. As he met children from Nansledan Primary School, he was told one young pupil was a Chelsea fan and he replied: “My daughter loves Chelsea.”
It is thought that William’s oldest son, George, is an Aston Villa fan like his father, as he has accompanied the heir to the throne to several matches, including last season’s Champions League quarter final, which saw Villa crash out of the competition to Paris St Germain.
Meanwhile, William previously joked that Louis, eight, supports about “five different” teams. He said: “I’m kind of hoping they’ll all find their own teams in time. They don’t all have to be Villa fans. I’m trying not to be biased but obviously they see how passionate I am about it and they watch the matches with me.”
William previously revealed he first started supporting Villa when he was 11 years old. Speaking on That Peter Crouch Podcast, William revealed how he was desperate not to follow his classmates in rooting for Manchester United or Arsenal.
