Australia has heartbreakingly missed out on its first Eurovision win, with Delta Goodrem falling short in the 2026 grand final despite entering the contest as one of the favourites.
Goodrem’s soaring ballad ‘Eclipse’ captivated audiences across Europe, but Bulgaria ultimately took out the title with Dara’s high-energy anthem ‘Bangaranga,’ securing the country’s maiden win.
The Australian superstar delivered a theatrical performance featuring a glittering gold piano, dramatic lighting and a breathtaking finale that saw her elevated high above the stage as she belted the final notes of the power ballad.

Goodrem had surged into favourite status following the semi-finals, with Eurovision audience polling placing Australia near the top heading into the grand final.
Australia remained among the frontrunners throughout the voting, sitting in second place after the jury votes.
But Delta ultimately slipped to fourth place with 287 points after public tele-voting came in.
Israel finished second on 343 points, while Romania came third with 296 points. At the other end of the leaderboard, the United Kingdom endured a disastrous night, finishing last with just a single point.
The result sees Australia land in fourth and marks another near miss for Australia, which has been chasing its maiden Eurovision crown since joining the competition in 2015.
Bulgaria’s winning entry was produced by Monoir and performed by Dara, whose explosive staging became one of the standout moments of the night.
