Wayne Rooney taunts Arsenal over party after Atletico win but Wright hits back âdonât get nicked by celebration policeâ
WAYNE ROONEY taunted Arsenal over their celebrations for reaching the Champions League final.
Bukayo Saka scored the decisive goal as the Gunners beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 at the Emirates to give the North London side a 2-1 aggregate win.
Arsenal will discover who they will face in the final tonight as Bayern Munich hosts Paris Saint-Germain.
The two European giants finished their first leg with the French outfit boasting a 5-4 lead.
Mikel Arteta will be keen for success in the Gunnersâ first Champions League final since the 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in 2006.
The achievement was clearly felt by the Spaniard, players and fans in the celebrations after the full-time whistle on Tuesday evening.
Arteta and the players could be seen celebrating with the fans in each stand of the stadium.
The jubilations left 2008 Champions League winner Wayne Rooney unimpressed.
The Manchester United icon suggested that Arsenal were acting as if they had already won Europeâs premier competition.
Speaking on Amazon Prime, he said: âThey deserve to be in this position but they havenât won it yet.
âI think the celebrations are a little bit too much. Celebrate when you win!â
Arsenal legend Ian Wright immediately defended the actions of his successors in the red shirt.
He insisted that fans should make the most of the moment.
Wright seemed to indirectly respond to Rooney as he mentioned the âcelebration policeâ.
Speaking on social media, he said: âArsenal fans, let me tell you something: enjoy this.
âThe celebration police will be out in force, do not get nicked!
âEnjoy yourselves, footballâs about moments and this is a big moment. Enjoy it.
âAnd letâs hope that in the final and after the final, we have another massive moment. Itâs a great day, itâs a great day!â
Former Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has also claimed that the celebrations are âdeservedâ.
He said: âThey celebrate well tonight â that is normal, but you want more for them to focus on the final already and the next game.
âThe celebration is deserved, happiness is absolutely normal, but now the next step is to go to the final and win it.â
Both PSG and Bayern will face their chances of beating Arsenal in the final at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.
