Adam Thomas has penned a heartfelt message to Caroline Daly calling her “the best wife” whilst expressing gratitude for her unwavering support during his ongoing health struggles.

The Waterloo Road star, 37, received a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis after suffering pain following a knee injury three years ago.

Last summer, Adam admitted he had “lost hope” because of his condition, though he revealed that anti-inflammatory injections had provided some relief from the discomfort.

In a fresh update posted on Sunday (February 1), Adam thanked Caroline for standing by him, writing: “I love growing with you.”

Taking to Instagram, the actor, who rose to prominence on Emmerdale as Adam Barton in 2009, shared two photographs showing professional dancer Caroline administering medication via injection into his thigh.

He wrote: “Shoutout to my wife Caroline, genuinely the best mother, the best wife, NURSE and somehow still my best friend after 18 years together!

“This past month she’s been everything…always supporting me, always there, holding it down in ways big and small. From meal preps to keeping me on top of my medication (yes, I still can’t inject myself), deep chats sitting in the bath together, trying to solve life like we actually know what we’re doing”, reports the Mirror.

Adam added: “We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve argued (obviously), but I wouldn’t change a single bit of it. I adore that after all these years, you’re still the person I want to talk to first, laugh with the most, and be completely myself around.”

He wrapped up by saying: “I told you this morning, and I’ll say it again, I love growing with you! And massive congratulations on winning Family Member of the Month, well deserved. Haha Keep up the good work. I love you @carolinethomas23.”

The pair first crossed paths in 2007, when Adam was just 19, before tying the knot at Delamere Manor in Cheshire in 2017. Together they’re parents to son Teddy and daughter Elsie-Rose.

Back in July 2025, Adam posted a photo of himself administering an injection into his thigh. Accompanying the image, he wrote: “I lost hope… I never thought I’d get my old life back… I was wrong!”.

“To anyone struggling with arthritis and is lost and can’t seem to find hope… Stay strong! Its along and painful road but I promise you…You will! These meds have changed my life… I’m pretty sure this post will get taken down again, but before it does… I get so many questions asking what meds I’m on and I’ve been on several but the only one that has worked for me are biologic injections.

“I have an injection once every two weeks, no side effects no brain fog no throwing up, nothing! Nothing but pain free! ! ! I know this isn’t going to heal the disease but it’s given me a life I never thought I’d have again!”

He continued: “Still putting in the work and focusing on diet and recovery as I’d like to think this disease can be cured naturally and one day I’d like to not have to take any meds but until then… I want to bring hope to those who are suffering and also awareness to this disease as I feel like it’s not talked about enough! I see you, I feel you and I know how hard it can be, but don’t lose hope don’t lose yourself to this disease. Too much love.”

Arthritis triggers pain and inflammation within joints, impacting individuals across all age groups, including children. According to the NHS, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis represent the two most prevalent forms of the condition.

Management typically involves anti-inflammatory medication, administered either as tablets or through steroid injections.
