This is the haunting last selfie of a kayaker who disappeared at sea and was never seen again before two heart-wrenching clues shed light on his final moments.

Andrew McAuley vanished in the vast and dangerous mass of Pacific Ocean while on a solo kayaking expedition after what should have been a month-long journey. However, it turned out to be his last ever adventure.

Andrew wanted to become the first person to paddle a kayak between his homeland, Australia, and New Zealand across the deadly Tasman Sea.

Tragically, Andrew was just days away from finishing the challenge. Andrew’s remains still haven’t been discovered but the kayak was found overturned and deserted approximately 50 miles off the coast of New Zealand.
