Eddie Howe tipped to LEAVE Newcastle as Toon legend Alan Shearer spots damning moment in post-match interview

ALAN SHEARER fears Eddie Howe could WALK AWAY from Newcastle, after spotting a worrying sign in his post-match interview.

The Toon legend believes Howe may not even want to stay at St James’ Park next season after watching his reaction following yet another dismal defeat.

Newcastle slumped to a 2-1 loss against Bournemouth, their FOURTH straight defeat in all competitions, leaving them down in 14th and staring at a nightmare trip to league leaders Arsenal next.

And while Shearer backed the under-fire boss, he tore into the players for what he branded a “terrible” display accusing them of throwing their manager “under the bus”.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football, Shearer said: “Did you watch it yesterday? The players were terrible.

“As tough as it is for Eddie, I don’t know what’s going to happen with him.

“I listened to his interview afterwards, I looked at him and thought, is he going to want to go again?

“Is he going to get the chance? Does he even want to do it again?”

Shearer questioned whether Howe still has the energy for the fight, especially with uncertainty hanging over transfers, finances and the club’s direction.

He added: “There are so many moving parts. Are Newcastle going to have to sell? Has he got money to spend?

“But if that’s the players fighting for their manager, because he’s under huge pressure, then they were terrible.

“They chucked him under the bus. The performance was crap from every single one of them.”

The Magpies now face a huge summer of decisions, and Shearer fears Howe may not be part of it.

Asked by Gary Lineker whether Howe should walk, Shearer delivered a bleak verdict.

He said: “As I sit here, I don’t see Eddie in charge of Newcastle next season, unfortunately.

“I look at his interview after the game and I’m not sure the fight is there.

“It’s a very different club now to the one he would want to manage. He doesn’t look in a good place.”
