Shortly after 1.10pm that day, gardai and emergency services responded to reports of a man found unresponsive at a residence in the area.
Mr Bolger was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the Dublin city mortuary at Whitehall.
A post-mortem was completed yesterday but gardai said the preliminary results are not being released for “operational reasons”.
A woman in her 50s was arrested in connection with the investigation and was quizzed overnight before being released without charge on Sunday.
The Irish Sun understands that cops are probing if Mr Bolger was attacked with a golf club.
The item has been seized and is being examined.
It is also understood the woman who was arrested is known to Mr Bolger.
Gardai said they are probing “all of the circumstances” following the grim find.
They are also looking for witnesses and camera footage from the area in a 15-and-a-half hour window from Thursday night into Friday afternoon.
Gardai said in a statement: “An Garda Síochána continues to investigate all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a man (aged in his 50s) in Cookstown, Dublin 24, on Friday afternoon, 27th March 2026.
“A post mortem examination of the deceased man has been completed. The preliminary results are not being released for operational reasons.
“A woman (aged in her 50s) who was arrested in connection with this investigation has been released without charge. A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

A source had told The Irish Sun on Saturday that Gardai are probing a theory the man “might have been attacked”.

“A post mortem will establish the types of injuries and whether this was an accident or something more sinister.
“But there are suspicions that he might have been attacked.”
