KELLY ALLENÂ
Coleen Rooney sent me scathing midnight DM after Wayneâs boozy night out⌠But it reveals sad truth about their marriage
After seeing her husband Wayne’s boozy night out on the front page of The Sun, Coleen hunted Kelly down on social media⌠and the I’m A Celebrity star was very blunt and annoyed

I HAVE been a showbiz journalist for 20 years so itâs not unusual for a celebrity pal to slide into my DMs.
But my heart skipped a beat on Monday morning when I woke up to a message from⌠Coleen Rooneyâs Instagram account. And, boy, was she raging.
Now, Iâve met Coleen several times over the years and Iâve always liked her. Sheâs warm, full of Northern grit and incredibly business savvy.
Her stint on 2024âs Iâm a Celebrity⌠Get Me Out Of Here!, where she finished as a runner-up, cemented her national treasure status.
But she also takes no s**t.
After seeing her husband Wayne Rooneyâs boozy night out on the front page of todayâs The Sun she hunted me down on social media â we donât follow each other.
Now Iâd had a heavy weekend in Manchester attending The Brit Awards with The Sunâs Bizarre Team so hadnât seen Coleenâs 12.11am Sunday message until breakfast time. I nearly choked on my cornflakes.
She bluntly put in five words â I wonât repeat them here â how disappointed she was that I had written about Wayneâs latest escapade at a posh hotel.
Now, I understand why she is annoyed. Yet again it brings up her long-term beauâs bad behaviour, which she is clearly sick of everyone talking about. Especially at a time when the focus should be on her.
Yesterday, Coleen was on the cover of prestigious The Sunday Times Magazine, marking the start of a busy week of promotion for her new Primark collection.
She wanted this week to be all about bargain, high-street clothes for âmums on the runâ.
Instead, itâll be Wayneâs skeletons, non-stop questions about their marriage and why it is sheâs standing by him⌠again.
But I feel her anger at me is misplaced.
I didnât go out to try and find Wayne having a wild night out. I didnât even know he was attending the pre Brits bash at this particular hotel.
I had intended to go to bed early. Instead, Howell Davies, from Bizarre, and I decided to have one final nightcap after watching Robbie Williams perform at the Aviva arena.
With the Brit Awards the following day, neither of us were planning on having a big night.
So imagine our surprise when the Manchester United legend walked in â accompanied by Britainâs Got Talent singer Calum Scott and another pal â and sat down beside us.
Now the bar was jam-packed â itâs unfortunate for Wayne that he choose a table next to two journalists.
The trio were then joined by two women, all of whom were in good spirits as the waiter brought them rounds of drinks â and the boozing continued until 3.25am.
It would be remiss of me as a showbiz journalist to ignore a story with a huge star happening right in front of me â especially when it was all so blatant.
WAYNE IN A STATE
At one point Wayne came out of the toilets, fumbling with his trousers and struggling to do his belt up.
Ultimately, it is worrying to see someone who has struggled with alcohol in the past get into such a state.
People in the bar were openly staring and commenting, âWhat would Coleen think?â
But then Wayne and Coleenâs 24-year relationship has not been without drama.
In the early years, Wayne, who is now a BBC pundit, admitted to cheating in brothels and massage parlours, and there were allegations of infidelity when Coleen was pregnant with son Kai, now 16.
When Coleen was pregnant with Cass, now 8, Wayne was pulled over for drink-driving, not in his own car but the car of a woman heâd met in a club in Manchester. Coleen and the children briefly moved out of the family home.
âMADE MISTAKESâ
On Facebook, Coleen later said of the incident,âI want to try and continue our marriage and live as a family, because thatâs what I want to do.â
Last September, Wayne appeared on his former team-mate Rio Ferdinandâs podcast, where he spoke about his issues with alcohol and praised his wifeâs steadfastness. âI honestly believe if she werenât there Iâd be dead.
âIâve made mistakes in the past which are well documented and whatever but Iâm a little bit different at times and she keeps me on that path and sheâs done it for 20-odd years.
âI wanted to go out and enjoy my time with my friends and have a night out. It got to a point where I went too far. That was a moment in my life where I was struggling massively with alcohol. I didnât think I could turn to anyone. I didnât really want to because I didnât want to put that burden on anyone.â
Speaking to the Sunday Times, Coleen admitted now Wayne has retired from football, heâs at home a lot more. She said: âIn some ways itâs good, in some ways itâs annoying, because weâve never had that much time together.â
I hope for her sake and for Wayneâs too â he has a few more nights in with her.
