David Beckham breaks silence and says his children have âmade mistakesâ on social media after Brooklynâs scathing tirade
Brooklyn said he ‘does not want to reconcile’ with his family
DAVID Beckham has broken his silence after Brooklynâs bombshell claims last night.
Brooklyn Beckham released a scathing set of statements about his parents, his family, and their treatment of his wife Nicola Peltz.
The aspiring chef shared his message on Instagram last night in a move to defend his wife Nicola.
Brooklyn said he does ânot want to reconcileâ with his family, and accused his parents of âcontrollingâ the narrative.
Now, Sir David has since spoken out for the first time after the feud was reignited last night.
The Premier League and England legend admitted today that his children had âmade mistakesâ on social media.
Speaking live on CNBCâs financial program Squawk Box, Becks said: âI have always spoken about social media and the power of social media . . . For the good and for the bad.
âWhat kids can access these days, it can be dangerous.
âBut what I have found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it for the right reasons.
âIâve been able to use my platform for my following, for UNICEF.
âAnd it has been the biggest tool to make people aware of whatâs going on around the world for children.
âAnd I have tried to do the same with my children, to educate them.
âThey make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids.â
The former Manchester United star added: âYou sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.â
Earlier this morning, David, 50, posed for the cameras at the 56th annual World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland as he tried to put the huge fallout behind him.
The footy ace looked smart for the occasion and was dressed in a dark suit as he returned to work.
He was asked by a Sky Newsâ Business Correspondent if he âhad a message for Brooklynâ.
The reporter went on to ask: âDavid, are you disappointed family business is being aired in public?â
But Becks did not respond to either question and smiled to crowds of fans as he continued to walk across the room.
It came after, Brooklyn, 26, shared a furious rant on Instagram yesterday evening, in a move to defend his wife Nicola, and himself, amid a bitter family feud.
His initial statement read: âI have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private.
âUnfortunately my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.
âI do not want to reconcile with my family. Iâm not being controlled, Iâm standing up for myself for the first time in my life.
âFor my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family.
âThe performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.
âRecently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that theyâll go through to place countless lies in the media mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.
âThe night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was ânot bloodâ and ânot familyâ.
âSince the moment I started standing up for myself with my family, Iâve received endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders.
âEven my brothers were sent to attack me on social media, before they ultimately blocked me out of nowhere this last Summer.â
Brooklyn also spoke about his wedding, in 2022, and claimed his mother âhijackedâ the first dance.
He claimed their plans were intercepted by Victoria, who joined her son on stage instead of Nicola.
âShe danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. Iâve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,â Brooklyn wrote.
The 26-year-old told how Nicola and himself renewed their vows after just three years to create happy memories rather than ones of âanxiety and embarrassmentâ.
âMy wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard weâve tried to come together as one,â he said.
âMy mum has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.â
Brooklyn further touched on his fatherâs 50th birthday celebrations.
At the time, speculation swirled around his absence, but on Monday night he claimed David ârefusedâ all his attempts to meet up somewhere private.
âHe refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner,â he wrote.
âWhen he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasnât invited.
âIt was a slap in the face. Later, when my family travelled to LA, they refused to see me at all.
âMy family values public promotion and endorsement above all else.
âBrand Beckham comes first.â
Brooklyn even accused his mother of failing to support Nicolaâs campaign for displaced dogs during the LA fires.
His lengthy statement continued: âThe narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.
âI grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.
âI wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.
âMy wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.â
It comes as he has been estranged from his family since the start of last year, with the feud understood to date back almost four years.
Just last week The Sun revealed how Brooklyn had issued his parents with a bombshell legal letter, warning them they can only contact him via lawyers and also not to âtagâ him on social media.
It also comes just days after Nicola appeared to have been caught fanning the flames of the fall-out with David and Victoria when fans noticed sheâd been âlikingâ comments about Brooklynâs family on a recent social media post.
But the feud has reached rock bottom this evening.
Pals in Brooklyn and Nicolaâs camp claim the family feud started after his brother, former Burberry model Romeo, began dating Brooklynâs ex Kim Turnbull.
But it was alleged David and Victoria have laid the fault squarely at the feet of Nicola, accusing her of being âdifficultâ.
This criticism understandably hurt the actress, whose tycoon dad Nelson is worth more than ÂŁ3billion.
The relationship with her future in-laws became untenable in the months leading up to her 2022 wedding.
She gave an interview to Variety magazine confirming Posh had reneged on an offer to design her gown, meaning she wore a bespoke Valentino dress instead.
Victoria was also accused of hijacking the wedding day itself after singer Marc Anthony â whom the Beckhams had booked â described the mum of four, not bride Nicola, as the âmost beautiful woman in the roomâ.
Both Brooklyn and Nicola were said to have cried on their wedding day, and relations between the two families have not been the same since.
Despite a brief detente â Nicola supported the designerâs fashion show in Paris while Posh attended the red-carpet premiere of her movie Lola â things have since deteriorated.
They had not spoken in 13 months, with the most recent previous public fall-out occurring ahead of the ex-England captainâs star-studded 50th birthday celebrations last May.
Neither Brooklyn nor Nicola attended any of his week of events.
The couple claimed they privately texted David asking to meet for a coffee â but were rebuffed.
Just last month it was initially thought the Beckham family had âunfollowedâ Brooklynâs account.
But brother Cruz soon put things straight and shared a post which read: âNot true.
âMy mum and dad would never unfollow their son.
âLetâs get the facts right.
âThey woke up blocked â.â.â.â as did I.â
It marked the first time any of the image-conscious Beckhams had directly addressed the family feud.
