The Black Suitcase That Left Everyone Frozen: What Forced Police to the Home as the Marriage Unravelled — and Why Tess Couldn’t Hide Her Fear

Police seize items from Ben and Tess Crosley during welfare check amid Lachie Neale marriage breakdown

Police have revealed why they attended the home of Tess and Ben Crosley as drama continues to swirl around Lachie Neale’s marriage breakdown.

Queensland Police have confirmed that officers attended the home of Tess and Ben Crosley to take possession of a number of items during a welfare check.

The couple have made headlines in recent weeks following AFL star Lachie Neale’s separation to Jules Neale.

“Police attended an Arrol Street Camp Hill address on 30 December and took possession of a number of items following a welfare check,” Queensland Police told news.com.au.

“There is no criminal matter being investigated as such no further information will be provided at this time.”

At this stage it is unknown what items were seized from the home.

Images of the police visit to the couple’s home show Ben Crosley speaking to police at the door of his home while his wife Tess Crosley, the woman reportedly at the centre of Neale’s separation, is pictured watching on from behind the curtain of an upstairs window.

Other images taken from outside the couple’s home show a police officer carrying a long black case and long fabric bags into the property, which would appear to be for transporting the items that were taken from the house.

Ms Crosley became embroiled in the Neale saga in late December after it was reported she fell out with Jules amid an “unimaginable betrayal” within the Neales’ marriage.

Jules has since wiped both her husband Lachie and her former close friend Ms Crosley from her Instagram page, with all photos of the pair deleted.

Jules also commented on a recent Instagram post of Ms Crosley, calling her out for not deleting the pictures of the Lions’ grand final celebrations in September, which contained both her and Lachie.

“Take these (pictures) down, you idiot you’re embarrassing yourself,’’ Jules wrote, in a comment that has since been deleted.

The Herald Sun reported Jules was referring to “a deception” by her close friend.

Ms Crosley has been spotted back in Queensland in recent days following a getaway with her son in northern NSW at Christmas time.

She spent the festive season enjoying some relaxation as poolside snaps and sweeping hinterland views painted the picture of a luxurious escape with a number of friends and their children.

Ms Crosley shared the Instagram gallery alongside the song Burn, Burn, Burn by Zach Bryan, which talks about reconnecting with the simple things in life and living authentically with few but genuine friendships.

Lyrics include the line: “My exes hate me and my friends all miss me, I wanna drown in rot gut whiskey, leave this small town for awhile.”

Later Bryan sings: “[I want] few good friends I can count on one of my hands.

“I wanna feel it all, joy, pain, and sky … We all burn, burn, burn and then die.”

Ms Crosley’s husband Ben, whom she married in 2017, does not appear in any of the images shared around Christmas Day. Another detail noticeably absent at the time was Ms Crosley’s wedding ring.

The police visit to the Crosleys’ home came just days before Lachie Neale announced his decision to stand down as co-captain of the Brisbane Lions effective immediately.

Neale walked off from a press conference in Brisbane on Friday after dropping the news he and wife Jules have separated.

Neale’s teammates were reportedly shocked when told earlier in the morning that the dual Brownlow medallist had stepped down from his position as co-captain of the Brisbane Lions.

The Lions for the first time addressed the private matter on Friday – almost two weeks after Neale’s wife Jules first went public in saying she had been “betrayed” in an unimaginable way.
