Katie McCabe ‘only scores worldies’ hail fans after Ireland hero nets sensational long-range goal in Arsenal win

KATIE McCABE added another screamer to her collection during Arsenal’s win over Everton on Saturday.
The Republic of Ireland captain, 30, smashed home from outside the box to put the Gunners in front inside 11 minutes.

Everton equalised through Honoka Hayashi before Alessia Russo put Arsenal back in front.
McCabe turned supplier in the second-half to set up Olivia Smith to seal the 3-1 win that sent the North London club to second place in the Women‘s Super League.
But it was the Dubliner’s goal that stole the headlines, with fans taking to social media to praise the technique.
One said: “She only scores worldies. Arsenal’s Katie McCabe” while a second posted: “McCabe don turn goal of the season award to her own”.
A fifth said: “Surgical precision at its finest…McCabe still got that long range monstrosity !” and a sixth hailed: “Katie McCabe annual rocket is in the bag just in time for they year to end.”
Arsenal manager Renée Slegers was among the many blown away by the quality of the goals, commenting: “I’ll have to watch them back.
“I sometimes struggle to remember who scored and what the goals looked like!
“But if I talk about the football we played today, I think we dominated the game, we dominated possession.
“I think we have some really good purposeful possession in the first half, find space really well.
“I’m happy we scored two goals in the first half. Again, the second half, the help of the game changers.
“The starters and finishers, it gave us so much energy and intensity. As for the goals, let me get back to you!”
The win over Everton was Arsenal’s final league game of 2025, but they still have a couple of games left to play to run out the year.
Next up is Leuven away in the Champions League on Wednesday, followed by Crystal Palace away next Sunday.
And Siegers said: “Two important games left.
“We set some goals for this block and we’re right on track for what we want to achieve.
“With the first three games, three wins and now we have to recover and we look forward to Leuven away and do everything we can to end up as high as possible in the table, within our control and then we have the cup game left.
“We’ll have to recover now and look forward to Leuven.”
