Police have found a body in a river while searching for a woman who went missing near a university.
Jill Grint, 79, was last seen near her home in, Earlham, Norfolk, around 10.30am on Friday. She was wearing a blue coat, navy trousers, navy trainers and carrying what appeared to be a yellow bag.
This afternoon, cops recovered a woman’s body from the River Yare in Cringleford, Norfolk. Emergency services were called to the scene after members of the public spotted the body in the water. While formal identification is yet to take place, Jill’s family has been informed of the development.

Police said the death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner. Norfolk Constabulary said: “Police can sadly confirm that the body of a woman has been found in the River Yare in Cringleford.
“The discovery was made this afternoon (6 December 2025) in the river by members of the public. While formal identification is yet to take place, the family of 79-year-old Jill Grint who was reported missing yesterday in the Earlham area, have been informed.
“The death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
On Friday, police said they were concerned for Jill’s welfare and appealed for anyone who had information to get in touch.
