Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, Wore Her Beloved Aquamarine Tiara at the German State Banquet
ophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, joined the British royal family at Windsor Castle on Wednesday evening for a state banquet honoring German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Büdenbender. The Duchess leaned into a classic look for the event, pairing her favorite tiara with the Debutante Floor Length gown by Suzannah London. Sophie has worn the Aquamarine Tiara many, many times over the years, most recently at the French state banquet in July.
The slender black frock is part of Suzannah London’s Atelier Collection. Per the label, the design was “inspired by 1950s elegance” and “features a sculpted architectural collar, a structured bodice and elbow-length sleeves, flowing into an A-line skirt with a subtle back train to create a refined, statuesque silhouette.”

The Duchess of Edinburgh also wore her yellow ribbon with the Royal Family Order of King Charles III, which she received in July ahead of the French state visit. Royal Orders are traditionally given to senior women of the royal family in recognition of their service to the monarch. The Duchess completed her elegant ensemble with her Royal Sash and Star.
