Inquest into icon’s death will start this week
RICKY HATTONâS son has thanked the public for the showing their support for his boxer dad on the day of his funeral.
Campbell Hatton, 24, posted a poignant picture of his dadâs funeral cortege passing the Energie gym he owned as it made its way to Manchester cathedral for an emotional send-off on Friday.
Campbell, who was trained by his dad during his own boxing career, wrote on Facebook: âToughest of days on Friday but what a send off.
âMassive thank you to every single person who turned out in the streets, attended at the cathedral, decorated businesses along the route and shown the love for my dad.
âHe would have been very proud of it like all the family are â
Ricky, 46, was found dead at his £1.7m home in Gee Cross, Gtr Manchester, on 14 September.
Paying tribute to his dad during the service, Campbell said: âNever have a father and son had so much in common.
âWhether it be our looks, as weâve been told so often, our music, the same sense of humour and personalities, our love for Man City, going to the pub, butchering songs on the karaoke.
âAnd the s*** jokes that Iâd nick from you and that even though heâd never admit it, youâd nick from me.
âWhen we were together, there was an undeniable bond that we shared, which has given me some of the best memories and laughs Iâve ever had.
âIâm so proud of my dad that itâs hard to put into words, not just his boxing career, the one of a kind fan base and the things that made him the Peopleâs Champion.
âBut because of how happy we all were when we were together.
âI canât explain how much Iâm going to miss you dad. Iâm heartbroken weâre not going to be making any new memories. But the ones we have, Iâll cherish forever.
âIâll try my best to do you for proud and now youâre at peace. I love you so much.â
An inquest into Rickyâs death will open on Thursday at Stockport coronerâs court.
