Queen Mary of Denmark was a supportive mother on a big day for Crown Prince Christian.
On June 11, the Queen of Denmark was in proud mom mode as she attended the appointment parade at the Guardhouse in Antvorskov, in which her 20-year-old son commemorated the end of his officer training.
In a relatable move, Queen Mary whipped out her phone to take pictures of Christian, the eldest of her four kids and the heir to the Danish throne, documenting the big day.
Mary, 54, attended the event with her husband, King Frederik, 58, and their 15-year-old twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, while the coupleâs 19-year-old daughter, Princess Isabella, didnât join.

Another sweet moment unfolded after the parade wrapped, as Queen Mary rushed to give Crown Prince Christian a hug.
As seen in footage shared to X and credited to Danish outlet Billed Bladet, the Queen gasped when her son headed in her direction. Mary couldnât hide her pride as Christian embraced his dad and chatted with other officers, before wrapping him in a big hug herself.
The Crown Prince was appointed second lieutenant alongside 120 other new officers on Thursday, marking the milestone after starting the lieutenantâs training in August 2025.

Crown Prince Christian will now continue his military service with the Royal Life Guards regiment of the Royal Danish Army and serve as a platoon leader at the Guards Barracks in HĂžvelte.
The job comes with specific responsibilities, and the Danish Royal House said that Christian will be tasked with the training and daily management of soldiers, âwhich constitutes a central part of the practical officer experience after completion of training.â
The Crown Prince isnât the only one of King Frederik and Queen Maryâs children gearing up for a major military commitment this summer, either.
In March, the palace announced that Princess Isabella will begin her military service in August as Denmark increases its number of serving personnel. The princess is set to train at the Guard Hussar Barracks in Slagelse, the same base where her brother began his military service in February 2025.
